FIGURE SKATING SPECIAL EVENTS
Competition with New Canaan Winter Club
Saturday 1/30, 8:30am - 3:00pm at GSC
(rain date at GSC: Sunday 1/31, 8:30am-3:00pm)
Our competition with the NCWC offers our skaters a wonderful balance of structured challenge and real enjoyment as they learn their personalized routines. Working closely with their coaches during class, they choreograph routines set to their favorite music. The girls showcase required elements such as basic edges, glides, pumping, crossovers, spins, and jumps—that match their exact class level. The event introduces them to having a solo performance, getting to choose a sparkly skating dress, and performing in front of supportive judges and cheering families. More than just scores, this friendly atmosphere gives them a low-pressure taste of competitive figure skating, helping them build stage confidence, celebrate each other's progress, and discover the thrill of taking the ice all on their own. If a skater would like extra practice on their routine outside of class, they may schedule private lessons by contacting Deb Cunningham at figureskatingcoach@greenwichskatingclub.org.
Year-End Show
Saturday 2/27, 5:30pm - 8:00pm at GSC
(rain date at GSC: Sunday 2/28, 11:00am - 1:30pm)
Our figure skating show is designed to be a celebratory showcase where every skater gets their moment to shine on the ice. Skaters will participate in group numbers organized by their class level, allowing them to perform exciting, synchronized routines alongside their friends while demonstrating the skills they have mastered throughout the season. To make the experience even more personalized, skaters also have the option to step into the spotlight with a solo or team up with a friend for an additional duet or small group number. The fun, supportive atmosphere always makes for a special night to culminate our season!
