GROUP LESSONS
Figure Skating Skills Classes (Level Basic 1 - Free Skate 6)
This class follows the Basic Skills 1-6 curriculum for the fundamental skills of skating, providing the best foundation for figure skating and hockey. Six progressive levels introduce forward and backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers and turns. Classes will be well-structured with the focus on proper skill development taught in a positive, fun and social environment. Skaters will progress at their own rate and advance after skill mastery is demonstrated.
Upon completion of the Basic Skills 1-6 levels, skaters will be able to confidently advance to Pre-Free Skate and Free Skate levels. Each Free Skate level is comprised of a variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, spins and jumps - all of which build on the previous skill, providing skaters a strong foundation of all elements. These levels will be taught in an interactive group format. Instructors will focus on quality and mastery of skills.
Monday and Thursday classes are 30 minutes and will focus on skills based on each specific badge level.
Friday and Saturday classes are 60 minutes and include stroking, edge work, skating skills and jump & spin instruction. Skaters in all classes will be divided by skill level on the ice.
Off-Ice Jump Class (Level Basic 5 and higher)
Skaters will work to strengthen their j jumps and landing form, learn new jumps and increase endurance. Each class begins with a warmup and ends with recovery and stretching. Skaters will have a chance to use our new jump harness! This class will be capped at 15 skaters.
