Mini mites
Program Description:
This program is designed for the younger skater who is relatively new to hockey and has mobility on the ice. Players who are new to skating should first complete the Learn to Skate Class, available under the Figure Skating tab.
Mini Mites is designed to teach the fundamentals of skating and an introduction to the game. The kids will work on basic skating skills (edge work, stopping, cross-overs and backward skating) as well as introduction to the basics of hockey such as passing, shooting, and stick handling.
Full hockey pads or snow pants, helmets and sticks are required.
For newer skaters snow pants are encouraged over hockey pads for ease of movement. Softec skates are also a benefit to newer skaters. Once Coach Kayla thinks a child is ready she will recommend the switch to hockey skates.
Please contact Kayla Grace at kgrace@greenwichskatingclub.org with any questions.
