All About Figure Skating
Figure Skating Overview
The mission of our program is to provide a goal-oriented program that encourages figure skating at all levels and enhances the quality of skills.
The objectives of the program are:
To provide a fun and safe skating experience for the beginner as well as the more advanced skater
To teach correct technique of the simple basic elements
To promote health and physical fitness
To enable all participants to achieve the skills necessary to either skate for fun the rest of their lives or to move competently into the U.S. Figure Skating advanced test and/or competitive structure
In addition to weekly classes, we host the following events as part of the Figure Skating Program:
Annual competition against New Canaan Winter Club.
Annual Year End Show held at GSC for our Figure Skaters to showcase all that have learned throughout the season through entertaining, themed performances.
Awards Banquet where Figure Skaters are presented their official USFS badge(s) earned during the season, as well as other special awards. Figure Skaters and parents celebrate the end of the season with dinner and a fun, heart-warming slide show of the GSC figure skating season.
