How do I propose a family to join the GSC?

The Board of Governors strongly encourages members to propose candidates who will actively participate in the club's figure skating and hockey programs and volunteer for various club activities.  You may sponsor 2 families at once.  Members must live in Greenwich or have children that attend school in Greenwich.  The application process includes an application for membership completed by the candidate and a letter from the proposer.  Please see the "Admissions" area on the home page for more details.

Please refer to the Admissions tab for procedures and for an application or if you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Chairperson, Neely Vanneck via email at: nvanneck@me.com

How do I get my skates sharpened?

GSC can sharpen skates on site.  Please bring your skates to the closet under the stairs at GSC and fill out a skate tag.  Attach the tag to one of the skates and place your skates on the shelf marked "to be sharpened".  (It is a good idea to put your last name somewhere on your skates just to avoid confusion).  Once your skates are sharpened, they will be placed back on the shelf marked "ready for pick up".  Your GSC account will be billed $7 for each pair of skates.

When is the earliest my child can participate in GSC programs?

The GSC Learn to Skate programs begin at age 3.  GSC offers both figure skating and hockey learn to skate classes.  If a child is interested in hockey, he or she can participate in Mini Mites once he or she can skate forward.  Figure skating lessons are available from the Learn to Skate level all the way through the various badge levels.

What is the Travel Development League?

Travel Development League is an enhanced version of the Outdoor Hockey League (GSC House League).  It is opwn to boys and girls ages 9-14 who do not play on another travel hockey team.  GSC will field two teams based on age, 9-10 year olds and 11-14 year olds.  There will be 2 practices per week and a game every Sunday against other local teams.  TDL will focus on skill development and fun competition.  The season ends with a jamboree between all teams in February.

What is the GSC Travel program?

Our Travel teams offer players with stronger skills a more intense experience and the opportunity to compete at the highest levels in the State and beyond. GSC typically offers 2-3 teams for Squirts, PeeWees and Bantams and 1-2 teams for Girls U10, U12 and U14, dependent upon the number of players who register to try out.  The Mite program is structured so all Mites make a team.

When and how much do the travel teams practice and play games?

Travel teams generally practice two times a week and have two games per week.

How many Travel teams does the GSC have?

Depending on the number of players in each age group, GSC typically offers 2-3 teams for Mites, Squirts, PeeWees and Bantams and 1-2 teams for Girls U10, U12 and U14.  Tryouts are held for all travel teams. Tryouts for Squirts, PeeWees, Bantams, U12 and U14 are usually held in the spring.  Mite and U10 tryouts are usually held in the fall, right around Labor Day.

Once my child becomes a registered GSC player, how does our family keep up-to-date about the program?

The website is updated regularly!  Once your child is assigned to a team, you should check the GSC website daily for schedule changes and additions.  Team Managers are another great resource for team-related information.

How do I find my child's team page?

Go to the "Team" Tab section at the top of the page and then select the "League" or division your child plays in and then select the "Team" that they play on.

How do I get the GSC member password to see my child's team roster on the website?

All new members are set up in the GSC database which also will give them access to the website and a personal log in and password.  In order to protect the privacy of our members, sections of this site are password protected and for currently registered GSC members only.

How do I access my GSC member account to pay bills, register for events or register for figure skating?

Click on the member account button on the right side of the home page.  You will need your member # (found on your monthly bill) and your last name is your password.

Who do we contact with questions?
